Opening Events in Brezovo and Teteven on the Occasion of the New School Year within School Makes Sense Programme

28 November 2017
With the beginning of the new 2017-2018 school year also came one long-expected moment for the 6th graders from Georgi Benkovksi Secondary School, Teteven and Hristo Smirnenski Secondary School, Brezovo. For second consecutive year both schools will have the opportunity to partner with Centre for Inclusive Education within School Makes Sense Programme. It aims to meet 6th graders with different professions from the relevant regions and to show them that the path to desired profession goes through education. The continuation of the successful cooperation within the programme has been celebrated with two events in Brezovo and Teteven.

The opening event in Teteven was held on November 22, 2017 in the hall of the Municipality. Through a well-prepared show, the current 7th graders and last year participants in the programme told what they had learned and experienced during their visits to professionals and the common activities with them. The participation of professionals and teachers added undoubtedly value to the event. Each of them shared his own impressions from the past year as well as expectations for the upcoming one. As representative of Centre for Inclusive Education, in particular of School Makes Sense Programme, Denitsa Davidkova expressed her gratitude to all participants. In her speech she underlined that the meetings between students and professionals, with the active cooperation of teachers have undoubtedly contributed to the better orientation and more clear vision for the future of the current 7th graders. Activities with them will not finish only with their last year participation. This year they will have the possibility to apply with their own ideas for mini projects for improvement of the school environment. Centre for Inclusive Education will finance the purchase of materials for the execution of approved ideas. The event enjoyed great interest from students, parents and professionals from the community and was sweetened with a specially prepared cake.

Two days later, on November 24, 2017, the team of Hristo Smirnenski School Team, Brezovo organized the first of a series of events for the celebration of its 180 years jubilee. Denitsa Davidkova, Tsvetan Kadiev and Evgeniy Dimitrov from Centre for Incluisve Education were guests of the event. In her greeting speech to the whole school Denitsa Davidkova assured students that their teachers are committed  to provide them support and education, so they could be successful in their chosen professional field. She also expressed her belief that the current 6th graders will be given the opportunity to go out of school routine and thanks to activities with professionals to expand their horizons. All students who wanted to participate in the event were included in its programme. This made good impression and created healthy and productive school atmosphere. Some of last year 6th graders shared with enthusiasm their ideas to the team of Centre for Inclusive Education for the execution of which in Teteven as in Brezovo, the Centre will assist.

Both events were charged with the energy and the creative performances of the students and created anticipation for the successful execution and implementation of School Makes Sense Programme during the new school year.

School Makes Sense

School Makes Sense is our most ambitious cause. We are aiming at 100 schools to join it in 2025, because this is a cause which makes the school to revive again in children hearts and to become special for them.

School Makes Sense creates a bridge which connects the school, the local community and the supportive business environment. By crossing it every day, children integrate knowledge, inspiration and challenges and find their place and contribution to the world.

School Makes Sense motivates children to find themselves, to dream about where they want to be, and we, the people around them – teachers, professionals, mentors and parents to help them to trace their path to achieve their dreams.
