Partners of Inclusion in the Community

The annual conference of the Centre for Inclusive Education is a forum at which we present the latest topics and developments in the field of inclusive education, both in Bulgaria and abroad, and promote discussions on them.

This year the conference is held with the support of the VELUX Foundations, America for Bulgaria Foundation and UNICEF Bulgaria.

In the field of education, inclusion implies making connections between schools and their surrounding communities. This year we want to show that Bulgarian schools are not alone in their efforts to build up inclusive school environments.

Good examples of school partnerships within communities will be presented: how schools involve partners, what the role of businesses and institutions is at local level. Parallels will be drawn between the Canadian and the Bulgarian experience in attracting external support for schools. Discussion will be held on the findings of studies carried out to establish the link between the viability and efficiency of schools and their adjacent communities.

We all - schools, parents, local communities and the public - want to see quality education in place, which in other words means that children should learn how to understand themselves and the world around them. Therefore our primary goal is not simply to reduce school drop-out rates but rather to help children not drop out of their mind the point of going to school.

School Makes Sense

School Makes Sense is our most ambitious cause. We are aiming at 100 schools to join it in 2025, because this is a cause which makes the school to revive again in children hearts and to become special for them.

School Makes Sense creates a bridge which connects the school, the local community and the supportive business environment. By crossing it every day, children integrate knowledge, inspiration and challenges and find their place and contribution to the world.

School Makes Sense motivates children to find themselves, to dream about where they want to be, and we, the people around them – teachers, professionals, mentors and parents to help them to trace their path to achieve their dreams.

One School for All

One School for All is our most encompassing and wide-reaching cause, our raison d’etre. Our ultimate goal is comprehensive introduction and application of the principles of inclusive education.

Inclusive education is a process of changing the school environment based on respect and acceptance of other people. It implies wise management of school processes in a way which makes children feel supported to develop their capacity and to overcome hardships; which makes teachers feel encouraged and confident that they are able to cope with the growing challenges, while parents are able to assume their responsibility and role in partnership with schools.
